Prof. Kriegel zum ACM Fellow ernannt
Professor Hans-Peter Kriegel, Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Datenbanksysteme am Institut für Informatik, wurde von der Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) zum Fellow ernannt.

Die ACM ist die bedeutendste internationale wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für die Informatik; seit 1993 ernennt sie jedes Jahr um die 40 Persönlichkeiten zu Fellows, die in besonderer Weise zum wissenschaftlichen Fortschritt und industrieller Innovation in der Informatik beigetragen haben.
Professor Kriegel wird u.a. für seine Forschungen in den Gebieten Data Mining und Ähnlichkeitssuche in Datenbanken geehrt, und ist damit der erste ACM Fellow aus einer bayerischen Hochschule.
